More Food for Thought………

At the risk of being a month out of date I just want to say what a great time we all had at Food For Thoughts One Year Celebration at the end of January.

With 70 people or so, we’re still seeing new faces each time and everyone is really welcome. With the two Alans helping us out (Alan Dodds, retired vicar and original member of David Bowies band or as Alan said, ‘Actually he joined mine!’-(I think that was some serious time ago, well before the Spiders from Mars) and Alan Jeans, Archdeacon, and incidentally, always wears jeans (I wonder which came first, the jeans or the name) – we had a really special time..

We had a wild ten minutes of hat making with some really inventive creations (Nils got promoted to the Archbishop complete with mitre and others sported everything from the Titanic on their heads to chimneys on fire.)

But it was fun – and actually as the photos from the past year flipped over on the screen- it was special - To see just how much we had shared together in a few short meetings, to see the smiles on peoples faces.

Alan encouraged us to live thankful lives and for those of us who have seen so many come along each 4^th Sunday of the month, that’s just what we do. Perhaps it might be right for you. We’re meeting again on 30^th March, everyone welcome - single, families, old, young,- no pressure, just a place prepared, if you want it, see you there.

PS – Alpha is coming – we’ll give more details out soon but the summer term will see a new Alpha course for Winterslow – a chance to get together, eat, discuss the big questions and the not so big. A chance to see what makes this course, started in the City’s financial district and now spread world wide so special. Watch this space!

Origami is not for me!

Decembers Food for Thought was very busy we had approximately 70 people!
And we had a lot of new faces, which is always lovely to see.

We were also joined by a number of beautiful angels from Rainbows, so thanks to them for turning up in costume.

Rockface performed a short play about 3 Angels discussing the birth of Christ...in a contemporary way. I think we should do more drama, so if there are any budding actors out there please come forward ;-)

Hamish explained about Alpha, (and you can see the advert for alpha on this blog). don't forget there's an Alpha staring in January in Farley/Pitton, and we plan to start one later in the year, so watch this space.

Susan (the better half) lead us in how to make angels from close pegs and stars from folding card. I had a go at making the star though, I had real problems with my folding and had to call in one of the 10 year old helpers to sort me out...therefore Origami is not for me!


Lots of angels and lights were made which we lit when we prayed and sang silent night

When the service ended we all tucked into Curry, hot dogs and mince pies. We pretty much ate all the food.

I'm hoping there are lots of the Angels hanging on various Christmas trees across Winterslow, and when you gaze upon the wonder you or your child made, remember Christ this Christmas (and sing him happy birthday if you like)

Wheres my Sheep?

We had a great time at the Treasure hunt, all be it a little wet.

When everyone arrived back we palyed a "Generation Game" style activity where opposing teams had to make a sheep in less than 5 minutes from various materials.

Jeremy....don't give up your day job! However you were a good shepherd....unlike someone else who will remain nameless...;-)

After all the fun and acitivities we settled down for some fellwoship time with a hot meal ( Chilli, Veggie Chilli and Hot dogs)
